I first started working with computers back in 1983, when my parents bought me one of the first home computer systems. I took to it right away and found that I had some talent for programming. During high school, I was fortunate enough to work at Radio Shack, where I learned to sell
and install personal computers. After winning some awards for programming in state competitions, I decided to major
in computer programming in college. That's when I met my first Macintosh computer and it changed everything.

In early 1988, I started working for a Direct Mail business and I learned how to design ads using a program called Pagemaker. It opened up a whole new world for me and
I decided to change my major to Advertising. I had the best of both worlds — I could design with Macs and program on my PCs. I attended the University of Southern Mississippi during the day and worked full-time at a local printshop.
I learned design theory in class and then I put it to work
at my day job. This is where I was exposed to new design software, such as Photoshop and QuarkXpress.

After I received my bachelors degree, I moved to Jackson, Mississippi where I started working for River Oaks Hospital. I spent the next two years designing collateral for their marketing department and running the internal print shop. In 1997, I was offered a position with a telecommunications company called WorldCom. I worked with the Branding team for the first two years, developing a wide variety of printed pieces to support our sales force and trade shows. When the company purchased MCI, I was moved to a much larger Marketing Communications team, where I stayed
for the next seven years. I learned all about marketing strategies, creative platforms, and energetic teamwork.

For the past year, I have taken a break from the corporate world in order to continue my education. I have studied and taught myself web design and I have pursued freelance work to keep my skills honed. I consult businesses on their marketing strategies and I'm frequently called back to the design community to assist in special events. I'm always on the lookout for the next great opportunity, so if you're interested in hiring me, just have a look at my resume:
